Empower’s Staff consists of passionate individuals dedicated to creating a safer world.

Staff and Training

Our self-defense workshops include a Lead Instructor and a Suit Instructor, as well as Volunteer Assistants or Instructors-in-Training.

Empower’s Instructors train through an apprenticeship process over the course of several months or even years. This insures that Instructors are well-prepared before stepping into a leadership role.

Our kids programs, including those offered within schools, involve one or two Lead Instructors supported by a team of trained Kids Ambassadors.

Our Kids Ambassadors – adult volunteers from within a community – attend multiple training sessions before their first workshop with kids, and continue their training as long as they stay with the program. More experienced Ambassadors assist in the training of newer recruits.

All of our programs are taught by trained male and female staff members and volunteers, who are required to pass FBI Background checks prior to working with us.
